I read your article, Her scamming ways: How to spot a scammer and her methods, because I find myself in a situation much like this.

Her name is Annet and we have been corresponding. We have even talked once on the phone and another time she left me a voice mail. I would like to believe it is true but I am skeptical because it is like you say in your article. She wants money to come to the US. She wants it sent Western Union to an -agency-. She does not have a phone at her home or work where I can call her.

I welcome any advice you can give me. I have checked several websites that have names and pictures of Russian women scammers and I did not see her listed but some lists are 4 years old.

What information do you have about her?

Hello Rick,

Yes, she is not in the known scammers list. But from what you told me she is a scammer.
The criminal groups very often hire students or female pensioners to give them address details and later receive money in the Western union office. So the names can be different all the time, pictures also.
Send me several of her letters (first and the last where she asks for money).

Go to Google and type there:

You will see many similar letters (at least their author is one and the same person). I have met letters from him a lot of times (it is a man from Moscow)
And there are no normal Russian girls on match.com - they just do not have credit cards with which they should pay there.

Thank you Irina. I will check that out. I forgot to tell you that I did talk with someone who said she was Annet over the phone once and another time she left a voice mail on my phone. She said she had to call from a public phone because she did not have a phone, either at home or a cellular. The number she called me from including the international code was +79063349480 so the call did come from Russia because I checked out the international code to verify that.

Rick, of course, it was from Russia. As far as as I know it is a cellular in Moscow.
They usually do like that, but they prefer to call themselves so that they know to whom they phone (they work on about 50 men at one day, thus it is difficult to understand who could phone).
