At the time of arrest there were 2 men there and 5 girls who worked on the telephone (phoned to men or received calls from men at appointed time (as if the men phoned to their girl friends). The previous arrest of Kazan scammers was in 2003. On average their profit was about 30 000 usd a month. The money by Western Union were received by different girls - students, who received 50 usd for each money that they received. The arrest was done becuase a man who was scammed for 25000 euro by this group did not want to let it go. He went to Russia, to Kazan, and made the police catch them. But the scam from the scamming center of Russia has not stopped yet, so there are reasons to suppose, that main group avoided being arrested.
In August in Yoshkar Ola there was ceased activity of an organized criminal group - scammers. Members of this group registered at the Internet dating sites as girls who wanted to husbands among Western men. They held fraudulent correspondence with men from different countries and extorted huge sums of money under the pretence of visa and tickets to the country where the man lived. The criminals were traced by a police group with a help of application made by a citizen of Germany. He transferred € 26, 000 to his so-called bride in Yoshkar Ola - a Russian scamming center . There was no surprise that the man was hoodwinked. The deceivers placed at the site a photo of famous Russian ballet dancer Anastasia Volochkova″. The information was checked and the officers of the special police department of the Republic of Marij El deduced that the correspondence with foreigners was held from so-called ″office″ in one of the apartments of Yoshkar Ola. There were seven members of the criminal group detained. Later about 200 members who worked in 15 offices were detained. Men-students were writing letters to foreign men, women-students specialized in telephone conversations with the victims. Only leaders (8 of them) were arrested and convicted to prison, all the students were just a witnesses at the court. Yoshkar Ola (Mari El) has very little opportunity for work, so young people seize any opportunity to work. What shall they do now? They are used to easy money and indifferency to people's feelings.
